The Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (MOACHP) plays a key role in preserving Missouri's cultural heritage. As outlined in the State Historic Preservation Action (Missouri Revised Statutes sections 253.408 to 253.412, RSMo), the council provides advice, guidance and professional recommendations to the State Historic Preservation Officer in carrying out the responsibilities of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (as amended) and other duties, including administering Missouri’s Unmarked Human Burial Sites Act (sections 194.400 to 194.410, RSMo). The council reviews all Missouri nominations to the National Register of Historic Places and advises the State Historic Preservation Officer before submitting to the national register.
The council meets at least three times a year to vote on finalized drafts of National Register nominations submitted to the State Historic Preservation Office. All meetings are open to the public and links to the draft nominations are posted below before the meeting occurs. After each council meeting, the council's decision is also posted below.
