The department is responsible for safeguarding our water resources by working with businesses and municipalities to ensure they have the tools and knowledge to develop sustainable practices that protect Missouri’s water quality and quantity. This is accomplished through regulating the construction and plugging of several well types. The department also issues permits well installation contractors.
