Waste Corporation of Missouri submitted a request for a preliminary site investigation for a proposed Central Missouri Landfill. The proposed landfill would be located at 24461 Oak Grove Lane, Sedalia, Missouri in Pettis County. The total acreage of the property containing the proposed landfill is approximately 71 acres.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is aware of community concerns regarding the proposed facility. The department created this web page to help make accessible the most current information about department activities related to the site. The department will add other updates to the website as they become available.

Preliminary Site Investigation

On March 4, 2026, representatives of the department's Missouri Geological Survey (MGS) visited the proposed disposal area and perform a general site evaluation. They investigated the site's soils, geology and hydro-geology and looked for geologic structures such as faults, springs, etc. Information submitted in the investigation request, existing geologic and hydrologic information on file with MGS and observations made during the site visit were used to assess the suitability of the tract for development as a solid waste disposal area. On April 3, 2026, the departments Missouri Geological Survey (MGS) completed the preliminary site investigation. MGS' determination is available below.

Next Steps
