Waivers on storm debris disposal regulations are still in effect
JEFFERSON CITY, MO, APRIL 3, 2025 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources continues to assist communities that sustained damage from severe storms and tornados that swept through the state March 14 and again April 2.
MoDNR is helping affected communities manage debris and providing technical assistance to drinking water or wastewater facilities impacted by power failures. The waivers on storm debris disposal regulations, which the department granted in response to the first round of storms, are still in effect.
Governor Mike Kehoe issued Executive Order 25-19 March 14 declaring a State of Emergency in Missouri. He subsequently signed Executive Order 25-20 March 20 giving the department discretionary authority to temporarily waive or suspend any department regulation to best serve the interests of public health and safety in recovering from severe storms and tornados that hit parts of the state.
The department will continue to work directly with county and local officials to respond to storm debris concerns. If you have questions or need immediate assistance, please reach out to your County Emergency Management Director.
