The application period for Well Plugging Grants is now open. To receive priority funding consideration, applications must be submitted by Dec. 31, 2026. Applications received between Jan. 1, 2027, through Feb. 28, 2027, may be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis if available funds remain available.
Through this grant program, the department provides financial assistance to eligible public water systems to identify and properly plug wells that, if left unplugged, may present a contamination risk to groundwater resources used by a regulated public water system. Awards are limited to a maximum of $20,000 in grant funds per project.
