The Missouri Department of Natural Resources released a proposed Updated Maintenance Plan for the St. Louis Nonattainment Area for the 2015 Ozone Standard. The department will hold a public hearing about the proposed plan updates during a Missouri Air Conservation Commission meeting. Please follow the link below for more information.
The department invites the public to review and offer written comments on the proposed plan updates until Dec. 11, 2025. Written comments may be submitted by mail to Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Air Pollution Control Program, ATTN: Air Quality Section Chief, P.O. Box 176, Jefferson City, MO65102‐0176 or by email to apcpsip@dnr.mo.gov. Comments submitted by email are limited to 20MB in size. Comments larger than 20 MB need to be submitted by mail to the address above or call 573‐751‐4817 to make other arrangements.
The public can review the proposed plan updates below. Although this document is referred to as an updated maintenance plan, the plan is distinct, separate and stand-alone from the maintenance plan the air program submitted in April 2022. This updated plan is based on more recent information, including ozone season monitoring data during the three-year period of 2023-2025 and updated future years. It also includes all elements of a maintenance plan and does not rely upon any information included in the plan submitted in 2022.
If the Commission adopts the action, it is the department’s intention to submit the plan to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as part of the State Implementation Plan. The air program will submit this updated maintenance plan with an updated redesignation request for the area. EPA approval of this plan is needed before EPA can formally redesignate the area to attainment for the 2015 ozone standard.
