The Missouri Department of Natural Resources provided no-interest loans to municipal utility entities for wholesale electric or natural gas costs incurred as a result of extraordinary prices between Feb. 10 and 20, 2021. Municipal electric and natural gas utilities organized pursuant to Chapter 91, RSMo, as well as municipal utility commissions organized pursuant to section section 393.700, RSMo, were eligible to apply. A total of $43,182,832 was loaned to 43 municipalities. The loans are repayable for a term of up to five years, with no penalty for early repayment.
