Each year, communities across the country mark Oct. 30 as National Weatherization Day and Missouri is no exception. Weatherization Day is an opportunity to highlight the impact of the low-income Weatherization Assistance Program, which saves energy, improves the health and safety of homes, and supports jobs and small businesses. Every dollar invested in weatherization returns $1.72 in energy savings and the Weatherization Assistance Program improves the health and safety of Missouri homes by testing gas appliances and systems for combustion safety, carbon monoxide, efficiency, and gas leaks. State and local weatherization agencies plan events and actions each year to showcase Weatherization Day. Many weatherization events are featured in the press and many governors officially issue a Weatherization Day proclamation.
