City will evaluate wastewater system improvements

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, AUG. 15, 2023 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded a $50,000 Clean Water Engineering Report Grant to the city of Branson West. The city will use the funding to evaluate its public wastewater system for improvements.

Through its Clean Water Engineering Report Grant program, the department offers funding to qualified communities to help cover costs of evaluating public wastewater system improvements. Branson West will use the grant to identify improvements its system needs to meet permit requirements and to continue reliable service to the area. The facility plan should be complete in February 2025.

“An important part of our work is helping Missouri communities maintain and improve their aging wastewater systems,” said Dru Buntin, director of the Department of Natural Resources. “One way we do that is by offering financial assistance through programs like the Clean Water Engineering Report Grant. Through this and other available programs, we help protect public and environmental health and improve the quality of life for Missourians.”

The department is committed to assisting Missouri communities with water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects. Through its Financial Assistance Center, the department provides funding opportunities for qualified communities with water quality, wastewater and drinking water infrastructure needs. This project will be funded wholly or in part with monies received from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
