Funding will be used to evaluate drinking water system improvements

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 19 , 2022 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded a $24,000 Drinking Water Engineering Report Grant to the MO-ARK Water Company, located in Lampe, to evaluate the company’s drinking water system.

The grant offers funding to qualified communities to help cover engineering costs for evaluating water system improvements. The water company will use the funding to identify system improvements needed to continue providing reliable service to its customers and meet drinking water quality standards.

Water and wastewater systems are essential infrastructure that support a community’s health and economic vitality. Through the grant, the company has an opportunity to assess its treatment system and identify improvements for efficiency, effectiveness and capacity, and to satisfy public health and safe drinking water regulations. This will help the Lampe community determine what actions are needed to address current drinking water needs and to plan for future growth and development.

The department is committed to assisting Missouri communities with water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects. Through its Financial Assistance Center, the department provides funding opportunities for qualified communities with water quality, wastewater and drinking water infrastructure needs. This project will be funded wholly or in part with monies received from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
