District will use the funds for drinking water system improvements
JEFFERSON CITY, MO, APRIL 20, 2022 - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded nearly $1.4 million in financial assistance to Cass County’s Public Water Supply District No. 10 for upgrades to the district’s water storage system. The project is expected to cost nearly $2.1 million and is anticipated to be completed by September 2023.
The project includes a new elevated storage tank that will connect to the distribution system through a new 12-inch main. A new electronic control system will be added, and new security fencing will be constructed around the site. With these improvements, the district can offer its citizens safe drinking water for years to come with a modern and well-functioning system.
Project funding consists of a $1.37 million Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan and $700,762 of local funds. The funding provided by the department is estimated to save the district’s ratepayers approximately $294,000 in interest over the loan’s 20-year term.
“One thing every community has in common is the need for systems that provide clean, abundant water,” said Governor Mike Parson. “We make it a priority to help Missouri communities plan and fund water treatment system improvements that will continue providing the water they need to grow and thrive.”

The department’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund finances improvements to qualified water treatment plants, distribution systems, water storage and supply facilities, along with interconnection or consolidation projects. Communities that borrow from the fund benefit from the below-market interest rate and from assistance provided throughout their project from a project manager.
The department is committed to assisting Missouri communities with water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects. Through its Financial Assistance Center, the department provides funding opportunities for qualified communities with water quality, wastewater and drinking water infrastructure needs. This project will be funded wholly or in part with monies received from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
