JEFFERSON CITY, MO, APRIL 28, 2022 – It’s spring and turtles are on the move. Several of Missouri’s 17 species of turtles can be found at Cuivre River State Park in Troy. In an effort to bring more awareness to the community about threats to our native turtles, students at Troy Buchanan High School are creating posters with turtle conservation messages that will be on display at the park’s visitor center May 4-23.

Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite poster with the winner being announced on World Turtle Day, Monday, May 23. Visitors can view and vote for the posters during regular visitor center hours, which are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Cuivre River State Park is located 5 miles east of Troy at 678 State Route 147. For more information about the contest, call 636-528-7247.
