Release Date

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MARCH 19, 2022 – Thousand Hills State Park is home to a collection of petroglyphs, or rock carvings, made by ancestors of today’s American Indians. Tour the petroglyphs with park team members April through October to learn more about this unique piece of history. Tours take place at the petroglyph shelter located next to the beach. 

Tours are scheduled: 

  • Saturday, April 2 at 10 a.m.
  • Friday, April 22 at 7 p.m.
  • Friday, May 20 at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 29 at 10 a.m.
  • Friday, June 10 at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 3 at 10 a.m.
  • Saturday, July 16 at 10 a.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. 

The public is strongly encouraged to follow social-distancing guidelines and be proactive in protecting themselves and others.
