JEFFERSON CITY, MO, AUG. 5, 2022 – Join Prairie State Park team members on an evening stroll through the park from 7:30-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12.
Enjoy the sights, smells and sounds as you stroll through the prairie taking in the evening and watching as the flora and fauna prepare for the upcoming darkness. Some will be going to rest after surviving another day, while others will be waking up, hoping to survive another night. Following the stroll, participants are invited to watch the Perseid meteor showers.
Please dress for the weather and bring water, snacks and insect repellent.
Due to the unique and rare diversity of life preserved at Prairie State Park, pets are not allowed on park trails, except for Path of the Earth People and Path of the Sky People trails. Bison graze freely in the park, and this regulation protects both you and your pet. You are welcome to bring your pet to the park’s campground and picnic area, but you must follow Missouri State Parks’ pet rules. This applies to all types of pets except service animals assisting people with disabilities.
Prairie State Park is located at 128 NW 150th Lane in Mindenmines. For more information, call 417-843-6711. Participants should meet at the Regal Tallgrass Prairie Nature Center.
