JEFFERSON CITY, MO, APRIL 16, 2022 – Team members at Sam A. Baker State Park invite the public on Wild Edibles Scavenger Hunts during the month of May. The St. Francois Mountains are coming alive with vibrant color and beauty and edible plants. Copies of the Wild Edible Scavenger Hunts can be picked up at the visitor center during open hours.
Awake to spring by taking a leisurely stroll along the popular Shut-ins Trail and search for wildflowers along the way. This activity is the perfect way to learn about Missouri's native flora while staying safe and having a blast while doing it! The Shut-Ins Trail trailhead is located near the park store.
Please do not pick the flowers or wander off the trail. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, bring water and wear sturdy shoes and insect repellent.
