JEFFERSON CITY, MO, SEPT. 4, 2022 – Help commemorate the Civil War battle that was fought in Lexington, Missouri, Sept. 18-20, 1861. Join reenactors and site team members Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Battle of Lexington State Historic Site as they help guests understand what life was like during the three-day battle in 1861.
Reenactors will re-create the “Charge of the Anderson House” near the site’s visitor center. Union and Missouri State Guard camps will also be open for viewing on the battlefield and near the Anderson House. Site team members will offer living history demonstrations of rope and butter making on the back porch of the Anderson House.
The event schedule is as follows:
- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Visitor center is open.
- 10-11 a.m. – Period demonstrations. Anderson House, Missouri State Guard and Union camps are open.
- 11 a.m. to noon – Historical demonstration of the “Charge of the Anderson House.”
- Noon to 2 p.m. – Period demonstrations. Anderson House, Missouri State Guard and Union camps are open.
- 2-3 p.m. - Historical demonstration of the “Charge of the Anderson House.”
- 3-4 p.m. - Period demonstrations. Anderson House, Missouri State Guard and Union camps are open.
