JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 6, 2022 – Team members at Pomme de Terre State Park invite the public to join them at a Halloween Spooktacular event Saturday, Oct. 22. 

Scheduled activities include:

  • 11 a.m. – Halloween Safety 
    Meet our park ranger at the Hermitage amphitheater for a presentation on Halloween safety tips.  
  • 11:30 a.m. – Lunch 
    Concessions will have food available for purchase. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and visit with our staff and one another!
  • 1 p.m. – Pumpkin Carving Contest 
    Bring your pre-carved jack-o’-lanterns to the amphitheater for judging. Impress our campground hosts with your talent and let them be the judge! Prizes will be awarded for the scariest, most original, and best “thinking-out-of-the box” jack-o’-lanterns. 
  • 2 p.m. – Creepy Crawlies with Mr. Crompton 
    Our naturalist will delight guests with his presentation on things that creep and crawl through nature. 
  • 2:30 p.m. – Pumpkin Chunkin’ Cornhole Game 
    Test your skills at our version of pumpkin chunkin' by joining our staff for a good old-fashioned game of cornhole.
  • 4 p.m. – Costume Contest at the Amphitheater 
    Meet our campground hosts at the amphitheater in your Halloween costume. The hosts will award prizes for best dressed, most original, and scariest costume in three age groups: ages 0-6, 7-14, and 15 and up.
  • 4:30-6 p.m. – Trick-or-Treating through the Campground 
    Campground guests and visitors are invited to participate in a self-guided trick-or-treat event in the Hermitage Campground. Campers are encouraged to provide candy for trick-or-treaters. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • 7 p.m. – Campsite Decorating Contest 
    Our staff will announce the winners of the campsite decorating contest. Prizes will be awarded for the best campsite, scariest campsite and most original campsite. 
  • 7:30 p.m. – Movie, Popcorn and Hot Chocolate 
    Enjoy a movie, popcorn and hot chocolate in the campground. We will be watching the 2021 animated film "The Addams Family 2." This movie is just over 90 minutes long and is rated PG.
