JEFFERSON CITY, MO, DEC. 29, 2023 – Join the team at Mastodon State Historic Site for activities throughout the month. Events range from Toddler Thursdays to story time to programs on archaeology. Mastodon State Historic Site is located at 1050 Charles Becker Drive in Imperial.

  • Toddler Thursday, Thursday, Jan. 4 and Thursday, Jan. 18 at 10 a.m.
    Toddlers and their grown-ups are invited to come learn, create and play. Each Toddler Thursday focuses on a different topic, and includes activities and a craft. These programs are free and take place in the museum auditorium.   • Story Time, Saturday, Jan. 6 and Saturday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m.
    Learn and create at the historic site! This program features stories and activities related to various park topics. Each program takes place in the museum auditorium and lasts approximately one half-hour. Story Times are designed for families with children ages 4 to 6, but all families are welcome. Registration is appreciated and can be done by calling the office at 636-464-2976.
     
  • Archaeology Myth Busters, Sunday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m.
    Were early humans smaller than us? Did they cut their hair? Did they all live in caves? Park team members will test your knowledge on these subjects and more. Emily, the archaeological interpreter, will guide guests through the answers to these questions and explain responses from archaeologists. All of the information will be presented in an engaging and digestible format, making this activity appropriate for all ages. Participants should meet in the museum auditorium. Preregistration is not required.
     
  • Homeschool Hour, Monday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m.
    Homeschool Hours are for our local homeschool communities to join the park team for fun and educational activities focused on selected park topics. This month’s topic is Archaeological Inferences. Registration is required and space is limited. Adults must remain with their children during the program. Each program’s lesson plan is available upon request one week prior to the program, via email, from Emily.Lange@dnr.mo.gov.
