JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 16, 2023 – Mastodon State Historic Site is temporarily closing its picnic area, located at 1800 Seckman Road in Imperial. The area will be closed for one week, starting Monday, Oct. 30. The historic site’s museum and trailheads, located at 1050 Charles J. Becker Drive, will remain open during posted operating hours.
This closure will be weather dependent and could be extended while work crews continue building the new eastbound lane of Seckman Road. A new entrance to the picnic area will be constructed during this time, which will improve safe entry and exit.
