JEFFERSON CITY, MO, APRIL 13, 2022 – Take a stroll with volunteer caretaker Meredith Donaldson at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, April 23 and learn what volunteers are doing to care for the flower beds in the cemetery and get an introduction to the history of William Jewell, former Gov. Charles Hardin, enslaved people and others buried in the Jewell Cemetery State Historic Site.
Participants should meet the naturalist at the cemetery trailhead and are encouraged to dress for the weather, bring water, and wear sturdy shoes and insect repellent.
Prior to the cemetery stroll you may participate in an open house at 9 a.m for Jewell Cemetery Historic Site, Rock Bridge Memorial State Park and the Midwest Section of the Katy Trail State Park.
The public is strongly encouraged to follow social-distancing guidelines and be proactive in protecting themselves and others.
