JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 9, 2022 – Come see an array of reptiles and amphibians during Prairie State Park’s Hug a Herp Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25.
Prairie State Park team members will help dispel myths and rumors about reptiles and amphibians. Visitors can see snakes, turtles, frogs and salamanders up close and have the opportunity to make an amphibian or reptile-related craft to take home.
Due to the unique and rare diversity of life preserved at Prairie State Park, pets are not allowed on park trails except for Path of the Earth People and Path of the Sky People trails. Bison also graze freely in the park and this regulation protects both guests and their pets. Pets are welcome in the park’s campground and picnic area, but owners must follow Missouri State Parks’ pet rules. This applies to all types of pets, except service animals assisting guests with disabilities.
