JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 25, 2023 – Cuivre River State Park will host Camp Derricotte Beautification Day Saturday, June 3, to help team members prepare the site for incoming summer camps. Camp Derricotte has been a part of the Troy community for over 80 years and served thousands of underprivileged youth, local civic groups and families during that time.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon, but volunteers can stay for as little or as long as they want. Participants should arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. to check in and sign paperwork. A hamburger and hot dog lunch will be provided.
During the event, volunteers will assist team members with a variety of camp beautification projects that will spruce up the camp for visitors. Projects will include cleaning camp dishes, sweeping out the buildings, leaf-blowing and more. Scout and civic groups are encouraged to join the team; children should have plenty of adult helpers with them. There will be projects for participants of all ages.
Preregistration is required to guarantee enough supplies and lunches. Call the park office at 636-528-7247 for more information or to register.
Cuivre River State Park is located 5 miles east of Troy at 678 State Route 147.
