Head and shoulders view of Dwayne Bostick selected as May 2025 Missouri Department of Natural Resources Team Member of the Month

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 14, 2025 – Dwayne Bostick, a park superintendent with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Division of State Parks, has been selected as the department’s Team Member of the Month for May 2025. He was selected for his service to the department and his actions while responding to flash flooding in Meramec State Park.

In the early morning hours of Nov. 3, 2024, excessive rain led to unexpected flash flooding at Meramec State Park. At 3 a.m. and in heavy rain, Bostick rushed to the campground to alert campers and help them evacuate. In addition, he also helped quickly move RVs and other equipment to higher ground, preventing property loss. Bostick’s intervention directly contributed to a safe outcome.

“Had he not acted, it would have been a disaster,” said Michael DeHeer, a park maintenance worker who nominated Bostick for the award. “His actions were of heroic proportions. If anyone in our department is deserving of recognition, it is Dwayne.”

Bostick joined the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in April 2004 and resides in Sullivan.
