JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MARCH 7, 2021 – Team members at Deutschheim State Historic Site invite the public to celebrate  the works of the Wilding family with a reception and open house at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 12. Visitors can enjoy the works of Clem Wilding in the visitor center and see the recent restoration of a pianoforte by John and Mae Wilding in the Pommer House. The Deutschheim Verein will provide light refreshments.

Clem Wilding (1909-1989) started woodcarving at the age of 40, and his work primarily featured realistic native birds and other animals. While woodcarving started as a hobby for Clem, it became his livelihood, and he sold his creations worldwide up until his death.

John and Mae Wilding recently completed the restoration of the pianoforte made by Frederick Wilhelm Pommer in Hermann. Funding for the pianoforte purchase and restoration was generously provided by the Deutschheim Verein Association friend's group.

The public is strongly encouraged to follow social-distancing guidelines and be proactive in protecting themselves and others.

The Deutschheim State Historic Site visitor center is located at 101 W. Second St. in Hermann. For more information about the event, call Deutschheim State Historic Site at 573-486-2200.
