JEFFERSON CITY, MO, AUG. 24, 2026 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has received an application from the city of St. Louis to construct a solid waste processing facility in the city. The proposed site is located at 2120 Gasconade Avenue, west of Interstate 55 and east of South First Street and the Union Pacific Railroad.

The department reviews all applications submitted by cities, counties and private owners to ensure that solid waste processing facilities are properly designed and constructed. Anyone with questions regarding the permitting process or technical factors of processing facilities may request a public awareness session. To request a public awareness session for the proposed 2120 Gasconade Trash Transfer Facility, please contact the department’s Waste Management Program at 573-751-5401 or wmp@dnr.mo.gov. All requests must be sent to the Waste Management Program by Sept.1, 2026.
