JEFFERSON CITY, MO, APRIL 9, 2025 – Missouri Department of Natural Resources Director Kurt Schaefer today announced Kyra Moore has accepted the role of deputy department director.
As a deputy, Moore will oversee the Division of Environmental Quality and the Division of Energy. She brings 26 years of experience to the role and joins Deputy Director Jake Buxton at the helm.
“I’m very happy to welcome Kyra as a second deputy to my team,” said Schaefer. “One of my key priorities is developing a Statewide Energy Plan for Missouri. Given Kyra’s background, she is uniquely qualified to explore the collaboration between the work of the Division of Environmental Quality and the Division of Energy as we move forward on this.”
Moore most recently served as the director of the department’s Division of Environmental Quality. Prior to becoming division director in 2021, she served in different roles within the department, including deputy director of our Division of Environmental Quality and director of our Air Pollution Control Program.
“I’m looking forward to serving in this new capacity and seeing what we can accomplish for Missouri’s environmental and energy future,” said Moore.
Moore holds a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri - Columbia.
