JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MARCH 28, 2025 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has issued a permit to construct the Kennett Board of Public Works Solid Waste Transfer Station in Dunklin County.

The facility will operate as a solid waste transfer station, transferring municipal solid waste from collection vehicles to long-haul carriers for transport to permitted disposal facilities.

The site is to be located at 18474 CR-508, approximately 0.8 mile east of U.S. Hwy. 412 and 1.8 miles south of Missouri Route 84 in Kennett.

The department reviews all applications to ensure solid waste processing facilities are properly designed and constructed. In addition, the department examines other technical factors that protect Missouri’s public health and environment. The department must also issue an operating permit before the facility is allowed to accept any waste.

Please send questions and comments regarding the proposed transfer station or the department’s role in regulating solid waste processing facilities to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Waste Management Program, P.O. Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176, or call Cody Shelton, P.E., Permits Unit Chief, at 573-751-5401.
