- Saturday, Aug. 10: Kick off the Lexington Community Fair at Battle of Lexington State Historic Site
- 3 p.m.: The Big Chill: A Homemade Ice Cream Demonstration
Summer is a great time to enjoy homemade ice cream, but was it around in the 1850s and 1860s? Yes, though, historic flavor choices would not make the top 10 list of popular flavors today. Come and learn how homemade ice cream has changed, but also stayed the same. Taking a turn on the hand crank will “earn” you a free sample of homemade ice cream! - 7:30 p.m.: Owl Prowl at Battle of Lexington State Historic Site
Join the park team at 7:30 p.m. in the visitor center to learn about the owls in the area and what makes them unique for hunting prey at night. After dusk, the program will move outside for a short night hike to practice owl calls and find out whoooooo might be nearby! The surface of the battlefield is uneven, so you are encouraged to wearing walking or hiking shoes for the outside portion of the event. Participants may also want to bring a water bottle and wear a hat during the hike. Insect repellent will be available. Battle of Lexington State Historic Site is located at 1101 Delaware in Lexington.

- Sunday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m.: Yoga in the Park with Suzy Latare at Knob Noster State Park
Yoga instructor Suzy Latare will lead a series of guided yoga classes at Knob Noster State Park at Clearfork Shelter. These classes are free and no registration is needed. Beginners are welcome. Participants should be prepared for the outdoors with personal water, sunscreen and insect repellent. They should also bring their own yoga mat or outdoor blanket for the class. Knob Noster State Park is located between Warrensburg and Sedalia on Highway 50 off 23 Highway and DD Highway. The Clearfork Shelter is located within the Clearfork Day-Use Area, near the Opossum Hollow Trail trailhead on the west side of the park.
