JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 6, 2025 – Central Missouri’s state parks and historic sites are filled with lots to do. From Mother’s Day tea to public meetings, there’s something for everyone.
- Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. – Mother’s Day Tea at the Landing at Jefferson Landing State Historic Site.
Break out your white gloves and fancy hats for an old-fashioned tea party to celebrate Missouri mothers! The event begins with a presentation about the history of Mother’s Day and life as a Missouri mother. During the presentation, guests will get to sip specialty teas and snack on tea party-themed foods. Then, they will get to indulge in a game of croquet, stop by the shadow puppet theater, take photos in front of the decorative flower arbor or go on a Victorian flower walk around the Governor’s Garden. Space is limited, and advance registration is required. Registration is $10 per person and can be completed by visiting icampmo.com. Jefferson Landing State Historic Site is located at 100 Jefferson St. in Jefferson City.
- Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. – Public Meeting – Mid-Western Section of the Katy Trail State Park at Rocheport Trailhead.
The public is invited to an open house-style meeting for the mid-western section of Katy Trail State Park. This section of trail stretches from Mokane in the east to Pilot Grove in the west and features trailheads at Tebbetts, North Jefferson City, Hartsburg, McBaine, Rocheport, New Franklin and Boonville. Representatives from Missouri State Parks will be on hand to provide information about this section of trail and to answer questions. The public is encouraged to share comments about the trail and its operations. The Rocheport Trailhead GPS coordinates are 38.977450, -92.560933.
- Saturday, May 31, at 3 p.m. – Public Meeting at Arrow Rock State Historic Site.
The public is invited to a combined open house-style meeting for Arrow Rock, Boone’s Lick, Sappington African American Cemetery and Sappington Cemetery state historic sites. The meeting will take place at the J. Huston Tavern, located at 305 Main St. in Arrow Rock. Representatives from Missouri State Parks will be on hand to provide information about these historic sites and to answer questions. The public is encouraged to share comments about the sites and their operations. The open house is held in conjunction with a living history event presented by Arrow Rock Stock and Trade.
