Release Date

JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JULY 22, 2022 – Bring your four-legged best friend and join team members at Washington State Park for the dog days of summer from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 23.

The day is packed full of events:

  • 2 p.m. Petroglyph Tour – Take a tour of the petroglyphs and see the park’s history carved in stone. Learn about the Mississippian-era carvings, the culture and community who created them, along with possible interpretations. Enjoy a short walk on a covered walkway with interpretive panels highlighting the cultural features.
  • 4 p.m. Dog Hike at Thunderbird Lodge – Take a hike with your four-footed best friend! Guests have the opportunity to bring their dogs on this fun nature walk. Participants must abide by the park leash law and keep all dogs on a leash at all times. Only bring dogs that are comfortable and friendly around new people and animals, and be prepared to clean up after your dog, if necessary. Complimentary doggie bags will be provided.
  • 7 p.m. Dog Show at the Campground Amphitheater – Join in the fun and participate in dog show. Show off your dogs and earn small prizes in the following categories: best trick, best costume, largest/smallest dog and more! Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.

Park team members reserve the right to ask guests to leave if their dog becomes aggressive toward another animal or person.
