EFFERSON CITY, MO, APRIL 29, 2022 - Team members from Graham Cave State Park invite the public to attend Art in the Park from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, May 14.
Talented guest speakers will present a series of nature-inspired stories and activities on the lawn in front of Graham Cave. All materials for the events will be provided and the event is free to the public.
A schedule of events is as follows:
- 1-2:30 p.m. – Meet the Author: Lena Lichenpold (Naturalist Lorie Hetrick-Volenberg) will host a reading of “Gramelda the Grasshopper,” her first children’s book, along with a book signing, discussion about grasshoppers and nature activities inspired by the book. Both hardcover and paperback books are available to purchase at the park’s visitor center.
- 2:30- 4 p.m. – Nature-inspired stories in literature, as read by Montgomery City Public Librarian Gaylee Harris. Harris will read popular stories depicting the world as seen through nature-inspired literature. Park interpreters will also have native wildlife furs and artifacts to see before and after the readings.
- 4-6 p.m. – Stories ‘n Stones as presented by storyteller Marilyn Kinsella and experimental archaeologist Larry Kinsella. These two combine their talents to share the traditional stories and demonstrations of flintknapping as part of their popular programs developed for storytelling audiences.
