JEFFERSON CITY, MO, APRIL 18, 2025 – Check out these exciting activities planned at Missouri state parks.

  • Friday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Seniors to Parks at Crowder State Park.
    Join the park team at the Camp Grand River Dining Hall Friday, May 2, for a day filled with knowledge and fun. The day will include a presentation, lunch and a tour of Crowder State Park, including the Thompson House. This free event is intended for senior citizens. Registration is required and must be completed by April 30. To register, or for more information about the event, call the park office at 660-359-6473. You can find the park at 76 NW Highway 128 in Trenton.
     
  • Saturdays, May 3, 10, 17 and 24 at 9 a.m. – Spring Hikes at Crowder State Park.
    Join the team in Crowder State Park for a guided hike. We will be offering a hike on each of our trails to showcase the park’s beauty and diversity. As we hike, we will discuss the spring wildflowers and other plant species. Hikes will be offered at 9 a.m. every Saturday through May 24.
    • May 3 – Redbud Trail, 2 miles. Meet at the tennis courts.
    • May 10 – Thompson River Trail, South Loop, 7 miles. Meet at the equestrian parking lots.
    • May 17 – Connector Trails, 4.25 miles. Meet at the Campground Amphitheater.
    • May 24 – River Forks Trail, 2 miles. Meet at the lake parking lot.

      These events are free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. Participants should bring water and wear clothing and footwear that is comfortable and appropriate for the weather conditions.

  • Saturday, May 10 at 8 a.m. – Birding for Beginners at Thousand Hills State Park.
    In honor of World Migratory Bird Day, you’re invited to join the team at Thousand Hills State Park to learn some basic birding skills and enjoy a leisurely hike. We will meet at the Beach Shelter at 8 a.m. The birding hike will take place on a section of Carolyn Bagley Harding Trail. This trail has a paved surface and is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and should consider bringing binoculars, field guides and cameras. A limited supply of binoculars and field guides will be available to use during the program. The event is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Thousand Hills State Park is located at 20431 State Highway 157 in Kirksville.
