JEFFERSON CITY, MO, DEC. 22, 2023 – The ever-popular basket weaving classes at First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site have added more dates for 2024. Join the team at a monthly basket weaving class to learn how to make a handcrafted basket.
All materials will be supplied. Participants are encouraged to bring drinks and snacks if wanted. Class size is limited and registration is required. Please call 636-940-3322 to register. Registration opens Jan. 5, 2024, for the February through June classes. Registration for July through November classes opens June 1. First Missouri State Capitol State Historic Site is located at 200 S. Main St. in St. Charles.
Classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and vary in cost. Each class is offered three times, as listed. The dates and type of baskets are:
- Friday, Feb. 23, Saturday, Feb. 24 or Sunday, Feb. 25 – Utensil Caddy Basket, $45.
- Friday, March 8, Saturday, March 9 or Sunday, March 10 – Easter Bunny Basket, $30.
- Sunday, April 14, Monday, April 15 or Tuesday, April 16 – Spring Table Basket, $50.
- Friday, May 3, Saturday, May 4, or Sunday, May 5 – X Marks the Spot Market Basket, $55.
- Friday, June 21, Saturday, June 22 or Sunday, June 23 – Burlap Blossom Basket, $55.
- Friday, July 12, Saturday, July 13 or Sunday, July 14 – Tiny Waves Basket, $55.
- Friday, Aug. 23, Saturday, Aug. 24 or Sunday, Aug. 25 – Cherokee Wheel Basket, $50.
- Friday, Sept. 6, Saturday, Sept. 7 or Sunday, Sept. 8 – Fall Corn Basket, $45.
- Friday, Oct. 3, Saturday, Oct. 4 or Sunday Oct. 5 – Round Pumpkin Basket, $45.
- Friday, Nov. 8, Saturday, Nov. 9 or Sunday, Nov. 10 – Large Blanket Basket, $70.
