The Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Air Pollution Control Program is proposing area boundary recommendations for the 2024 Annual SO2 (Sulfur Dioxide) Standard. The department invites the public to review and offer written comments on the proposed area boundary designation until Nov. 6, 2025. The public can review the proposed recommendations below. The department will hold a public hearing about the proposed recommendations before the Missouri Air Conservation Commission. Please follow the hearing link below for more information.

Comments larger than 20 MB need to be submitted by mail to the address above or call 573‐751‐4817 to make other arrangements.
These recommendations are according to Clean Air Act Section 107(d)(1) and follow EPA guidance. The area boundary recommendations are based on 2022-2024 monitoring data and dispersion modeling. The department's Air Program recommends attainment/ unclassifiable designations for all areas of the state. If the commission adopts this action, the department intends to submit the recommendations to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
