The department will hold a public informational meeting regarding the reissuance of a  new Master General Permit for wastewater associated with Animal Care Facilities. This permit includes, but is not limited to, facilities such as veterinary facilities, animal shelters, boarding facilities and pet groomers. Permitted facilities will be those that are not connected to a wastewater treatment facility and that use land application, subsurface injection or composting to manage waste streams. This permit does not cover Animal Feeding Operations (AFOs), Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) or other forms of animal agriculture.

The meeting will explain what documentation facilities will need to submit in order to obtain a permit and an overview of what the permit will require of facilities. A draft of the permit will not yet be available at the time of the meeting. The draft permit will be made available to industry after considering internal and external comments.
