The application period for the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Lead Service Line Funding is now open. This program is offering a new funding opportunity to assist communities with their lead service line inventory, planning and replacement projects. Eligible applicants include political subdivisions of the state, investor-owned water utility corporations and not-for-profit corporations providing a wholesale or regional water supply.
The funding is provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Projects will be funded on a first come, first served basis as long as funds remain available. Priority will be given to applications for lead service line inventories. Applicants can anticipate both a grant and loan opportunity. The amount of the grant component will vary, based on the project activity and the applicant’s disadvantaged status. The infrastructure bill emphasizes the importance of targeting resources, including lead funding, to disadvantaged communities. Disadvantaged communities will be identified using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund affordability criteria.
To apply for this loan, applicants may submit their completed application by Dec. 31, 2023. For more information, or to download the application, visit the department's DWSRF Lead Service Line Funding webpage.
