The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is proposing new risk assessment levels for 1-bromopropane for use in future air permitting requirements. The department invites the public to review and offer written comments on the draft proposal until March 27, 2023. Written comments and any relevant information or materials may be submitted by mail to Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Air Pollution Control Program, ATTN: Stephen Hall, PO Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176 or by email to apcppermitspn@dnr.mo.gov. Comments submitted by email are limited to 20 MB in size. Comments larger than 20 MB need to be submitted by mail to the address above.  

On Jan. 5, 2022, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency promulgated in the Federal Register (87 FR 393) the addition of 1-bromopropane to the Clean Air Act Section 112 list of hazardous air pollutants. The department developed a draft proposal for new 24-hour and annual Risk Assessment Levels to perform air quality analyses specific to 1-bromopropane in future air construction permits. The public can review the draft proposal below. The department may extend the comment period 30 calendar days if a written request is received by March 22, 2023.
