JEFFERSON CITY, MO, SEPT. 17, 2021 – Representatives from Missouri State Parks invite women to explore the great outdoors at Sam A. Baker State Park from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 at WIN: Women In Nature. The full-day experience gives females ages 10 and up the chance to learn new skills, with activities taught by all female instructors. Registration is required and open now. 

Activities for the day include:

Archery/atlatl

Participants will learn the basics of both archery and atlatl, and the historical significance of atlatls, bows and arrows and shooting techniques. After the instruction portion, participants will put their new skills to use with hands-on practice using archery equipment and atlatls. Participants will receive personal instruction and adequate time to practice what they learn.

Dutch oven cooking

Participants will learn the basics of cooking in a Dutch oven and pie iron. Food will be provided for participants to prepare, and samples will be available.

Geocaching

Participants will learn about the popular treasure hunt game using global positioning systems (GPS) to locate hidden containers, called caches. GPS devices will be provided.

Participants must be at least 10 years of age. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. (Parent/Guardian does not have to participate, but must be there to provide adult supervision.)
