City will evaluate drinking water system improvements
JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JULY 4, 2022 - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded a $37,500 Drinking Water Engineering Report Grant to the city of Hayti to evaluate its drinking water system. The grant offers funding to qualified communities to help cover engineering costs for evaluating drinking water treatment system improvements.
The city will use the grant to identify improvements that will enable the water system to meet drinking water quality standards and continue to provide reliable water service.
Through the grant, Hayti has an opportunity to assess its drinking water system and identify improvements for better efficiency, effectiveness and capacity, as well as to satisfy public health and drinking water regulations. This will help the community determine what actions are needed to address its drinking water needs in the short term, as well as to plan for future growth and development.
The department is committed to assisting Missouri communities with water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects. Through its Financial Assistance Center, the department provides funding opportunities for qualified communities with water quality, wastewater and drinking water infrastructure needs.
This project will be funded wholly or in part with monies received from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
