JEFFERSON CITY, MO, SEPT. 28, 2021 – Bennett Spring State Park invites the public to the Heart of the Spring Walk with Laura Valenti at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2.

Laura Valenti will lead participants from the nature center to the hatchery area and discuss the history of Bennett Spring from the time of Native Americans and the development of the town of Brice. This relaxed walk will help participants understand where the town of Brice was located near the last mill at the back of the hatchery pool location and provide a great opportunity to ask questions about the area’s history.

Valenti is a freelance writer and author. Her latest book, “The Heart of the Spring Everlasting,” is sold at the state park store.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather, bring water and wear sturdy shoes and insect repellent.

The public is strongly encouraged to follow social-distancing guidelines and be proactive in protecting themselves and others.

Bennett Spring State Park is located at 26250 Highway 64A in Lebanon.
