JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 1, 2021 – Representatives from Bennett Spring State Park and the Sunbonnet Garden Club invite children in grades first through fifth to participate in the annual Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl 2022 Poster Contest. From Wednesday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 31, the Bennett Spring Nature Center will have an area available for participants to utilize supplies and turn in a poster for the contest.

Woodsy Owl is a conservation icon whose message is “Lend a Hand, Care for the Land!” while Smokey Bear’s fire prevention message is "Only YOU Can Prevent Wildfires!" The park staff would like to support the community’s efforts in recycling, reusing and reducing waste. 

Certificates will be awarded to each poster dropped off for contest entry. There will be prize money awarded by the Federation Garden Club for the four national winners, and the national grand prize winner will receive a trip to Washington, D.C.
