Release Date

 JEFFERSON CITY, MO, OCT. 14, 2021 – Staff members at Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park invite the public to come to the park on Saturday, Oct. 23 for the park's first "Spooking up the Park" event.
Visitors can have a spooktacular time making themed crafts to take home, participating in a costume contest, going on a "Haunted Hike," judging a campsite decorating contest and trick-or-treating. Visitors are invited to experience the park after dark and share some stories around the campfire.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

  • 2-3 p.m. – Themed crafts
  • 3-4 p.m. – Costume contest
  • 4-5 p.m. – Campsite decorating contest judging
  • 5-7 p.m. – Haunted hike and trick-or-treating
  • 7-10 p.m. – Campfire stories

The public is strongly encouraged to follow social-distancing guidelines and be proactive in protecting themselves and others.
