The department is currently accepting applications for installing electric vehicle charging infrastructure at specific highway locations. The department will accept applications for sites near Branson, Cabool, Chilicothe, Collins, Farmington, Hannibal, Macon, Maryville, Poplar Bluff and Sedalia. Applications must include two direct current fast charging (DCFC) stations, be publicly accessible and have minimal downtime. The department will accept applications from all entities according to the Request for Applications and Program Requirements documents available on the department’s Electric Vehicle Charging Stations webpage. 

The department took stakeholder input to develop the highway charging locations in order to build a minimum highway charging network. Funding is available to cover up to 80% of eligible project costs to install a minimum of two DCFC per location, with the option to include additional Level 2 chargers. The DCFC should support both CCS and CHAdeMO charging technologies with at least 50kW charging rate, and should be at publicly available locations. The department w

Approximately $3M is allocated to this project, which is funded from, and follows requirements in, the Volkswagen (VW) Trust. The department will competitively score applications received and announce awards 6 to 8 weeks after the close of the application period. Awardees are expected to complete awarded projects by June 2024.
