The regulatory impact report (RIR) for proposed revisions to 10 CSR 20-8.200, Wastewater Lagoons and Wastewater Irrigation Alternatives, is now available for public review and comment until May 16, 2022. Written comments may be submitted by mail to Cindy LePage, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Water Protection Program, P.O. Box 176, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0176 or online through the Regulatory Action Tracking System. Please include your contact information: name, email address and phone number.

An RIR is required at the beginning of the rulemaking process for rules recommending environmental standards or conditions. It documents the environmental and economic costs and benefits associated with the proposed rule changes. The department invites the public to review and submit comments to help ensure that our regulations provide required protections but do not add unneeded costs. Only the RIR is open for public comment at this time. The proposed rule will be open for public comment at a later date.

The proposed rule amendment makes administrative changes-correcting geohydrological to geohydrologic, adds language regarding supplemental information submittal, clarifies storage requirement calculations, replaces lagoon with earthen basin when appropriate, alphabetizes the county list, corrects some typographical errors and omissions from the list. For additional details please see the rulemaking report.
