The Missouri State Energy Planning process identifies and addresses topics critical to Missouri's current and future energy needs and opportunities. In 2021, the department’s Division of Energy continued an ongoing series of virtual workshops to engage energy stakeholders throughout Missouri. Basing its regional approach on a Missouri Department of Economic Development model, MoDNR has sought the input of more than 700 stakeholders to date. The meetings offered opportunities to provide input on energy initiatives for exploration in this cycle of the energy planning process and for discussion in future cycles as well.

Stakeholder-driven energy planning is crucial to the state’s success in meeting future energy needs and opportunities. Input gathered at these meetings and through workgroup discussions will culminate in regional summary and action reports and a statewide wrap-up report, including recommended next steps based on opportunities identified in each region to address initiatives and metrics to gauge their success.
