Membership Composition

All members shall be representative of the general interest of the public or of public water systems and shall have demonstrated an interest and knowledge about water quality. All members shall be qualified by interest, education, training or experience to provide, assess and evaluate scientific and technical information concerning drinking water, financial requirements and the effects of the promulgation of standards, rules and regulations.

• Four members shall be associated with the operation of public water systems:
  • One shall be associated with a water system serving a population of 75 or less
  • One shall be associated with a water system serving a population greater than 75 but not more than 2,500
  • One shall be associated with a water system serving a population greater than 2,500 and less than 100,000
  • One shall be associated with a water system serving a population of more than 100,000
• Five members shall represent the water consuming public

To the greatest extent possible, the various associations representing water suppliers of the size classes shall be represented on the commission.

Compensation

Reimbursed for travel and other expenses actually and necessarily incurred in the performance of their duties.

Responsibilities of the Commission/Members

• Publish rules and regulations necessary for implementing, administering and enforcing sections 640.100 to 640.140, RSMo
• Adopt the annual Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Intended Use Plan
• Adopt annually the priority point criteria used for awarding drinking water loans

Frequency of Meetings and Location(s)

At least four times a year in Jefferson City.

Time Expended by Commissioners for Meetings and Preparation Thereof

Meetings take approximately four to five hours. Preparation time varies, but usually averages about four to eight hours per meeting. Travel to and from meetings depends on where the commissioner lives.

Requirements for Inclusion of Items on Agenda

Agenda must meet Sunshine Law requirements; otherwise, no specific requirement.
