Release Date

Guests are invited to enjoy evening about astronomy at Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park on Saturday, June 27. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the event will start at 7 p.m. at the visitor center. Members of the St. Louis Astronomical Society will offer instruction on identifying various constellations.

The evening will start with a “virtual tour” of the Earth’s orbit. Following the program at the visitor center, members of the St. Louis Astronomical Society will set up telescopes at the monument area for viewing the sky. SLAS members will be offering instruction on how to identify various constellations, including the big dipper. The Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, and Venus will also be viewable through telescopes.

The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, binoculars. Participants with telescopes are encouraged to bring those to the event as well.
