JEFFERSON CITY, MO, JUNE 17, 2019 – Nathan Boone Homestead State Historic Site invites the public to see how the Boones and other residents of the Missouri Ozarks celebrated Independence Day on the frontier from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, July 4. A reading of the Declaration of Independence will take place at noon on the porch of the Boone home. Try your hand at quill pen writing or old fashion cane pole fishing in the site's pond.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and wear insect repellent.
