JEFFERSON CITY, MO, MAY 18, 2017 – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded three Small Community Engineering Assistance Program grants totaling $140,000 to the cities of Annapolis, Eldon and Everton to evaluate wastewater treatment upgrades and collection system repairs.

Annapolis received $50,000 - The city will use the grant funds to develop a facility plan to evaluate improvements to the wastewater treatment system and the collection system for inflow and infiltration issues. Inflow and infiltration can be groundwater, stormwater or drinking water flowing directly into the sewer system. This results in higher volumes of water being unnecessarily transported and treated which increases costs and energy usage. The facility plan is estimated to cost $62,500 and is expected to be completed in summer 2019.

Eldon received $50,000 - The city will use the grant funds to develop a facility plan to evaluate the city of Eldon’s wastewater treatment facility to meet new operating permit effluent limits and to increase the system’s capacity. The facility plan is estimated to cost $62,500 and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2019.

Everton received $40,000 - The city will use the grant funds to develop a facility plan, for planning purposes, to evaluate how the wastewater system will respond to potential future requirements. The facility plan will also evaluate the wastewater collection system for aging infrastructure issues. The facility plan is estimated to cost $50,000 and is expected to be completed in spring 2019.
