JEFFERSON CITY, MO, SEPT 30, 2022 – Missouri Governor Michael Parson signed a proclamation declaring Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, as Energy Efficiency Day.

The message of Energy Efficiency Day is simple: Save Money. Cut Pollution. Create Jobs. The goal for Energy Efficiency Day is to share information that promotes the many benefits of energy efficiency, which include cost savings and healthier homes. Energy efficiency also has strong economic benefits, including more than 38,000 Missouri jobs in 2021. Many of these jobs were in the traditional heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology-application area and the construction industry sector.

In the proclamation, Governor Parson encourages, “all Missourians to join us in moving toward a more energy-efficient future.”

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources promotes the environmentally sound and energy-efficient operations of businesses, communities, agriculture and industry for the benefit of all Missourians. The promotion of the efficient and environmentally sound use of energy is also noted as a core value within the ongoing Missouri State Energy Planning (MoSEP) process, an activity the department’s Division of Energy leads.
